Words from Our Students

I just completed the 200-hour YTT here and it was a really good experience overall. The teachers know their stuff, especially the philosophy classes with Yogini Renu Singh — she made ancient texts feel relevant today. The accommodation is basic but clean, and the food is surprisingly good for being vegetarian every day. The location right near the Ganges is beautiful for morning meditation. Only reason not 5 stars is that the schedule was quite packed with not much free time. Would recommend though if you're serious about learning traditional yoga.

This place changed my perspective on yoga completely. Before coming, I just thought yoga was about flexibility, but the depth of knowledge here is incredible. The asana classes challenged me while the meditation sessions helped me find inner peace I didn't know I was looking for. The community of students from around the world made this experience special too. We had bonfires, weekend excursions, and supported each other through the intense training. The staff genuinely cares about your progress. I'm already planning to come back for advanced training next year.
Michael Chen · ★★★★★
The yoga instruction is solid and the location can't be beat — waking up to the sound of the Ganges was magical. However, I wish I had known more about what was included before booking. The rooms are simpler than shown in photos, and there were extra fees for things I expected to be included. The schedule is also very rigid with 6 AM starts every day. That said, I did learn a lot and my practice has definitely improved. Just be sure to ask about all details upfront if you're considering this school.
Emma Rodriguez · ★★★☆☆
I've been to several yoga schools in India and this one stands out for its authenticity. They don't water down the teachings for Westerners — you get the real deal here. The pranayama techniques alone have transformed my daily practice. What impressed me most was how the teachers adapt to different skill levels while maintaining the integrity of the traditional teachings. The food is fresh and delicious, and the view from the yoga hall is something I'll never forget. If you're looking for a serious yoga education rather than just a yoga holiday, this is the place.
James Thompson · ★★★★★
As someone of Indian heritage, I was looking for an authentic yoga experience that connected me to my roots. Rishikesh Yoga School delivered that. The teachers respect the traditions while making them accessible to international students. I especially appreciated the emphasis on yoga philosophy and not just physical postures. The only issue was occasional communication problems with administration — sometimes schedule changes weren't communicated clearly. But the teaching quality more than makes up for it. I left with a deeper understanding of yoga and a stronger personal practice.
