100, 200 & 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Rishikesh Yoga School offers residential 100, 200 and 300 hour Hatha Yoga teacher training courses in Rishikesh, India — the 200 Hour course runs 4 weeks and costs $1,599 per person; the 300 Hour advanced course runs 6 weeks at $2,499. All programs are taught in a traditional ashram setting by the Ganga.

Yoga teacher training is more than learning how to teach a class. It is an opportunity to deepen your own practice, understand the philosophy behind every technique, and experience yoga as a complete way of living.

Our residential programs in Rishikesh follow the traditional Hatha Yoga system, where learning extends beyond the classroom into daily ashram life. Each day combines āsana, prāṇāyāma, meditation, yogic philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology, mantra, and self-study, allowing knowledge to mature through both study and direct experience.

Whether you aspire to become a professional teacher or wish to deepen your personal practice, the curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation with clarity, discipline, and understanding. Throughout the course, experienced teachers provide individual guidance, helping every student develop confidence while honouring the uniqueness of their own journey.

Upon successful completion, students receive an internationally recognised Yoga Teacher Training certification, supported by a traditional education rooted in authentic yogic wisdom rather than passing trends.

The Six Limbs of Our Curriculum

Hatha Yoga Āsana

हठयोग आसन

Classical postures practised with alignment, stillness and breath awareness — the traditional method, free of acrobatics and haste.

Prāṇāyāma

प्राणायाम

The science of breath — expanding and directing prāṇa through techniques handed down from the Hatha Yoga Pradīpikā.

Meditation & Mantra

ध्यान एवं मन्त्र

Daily silent meditation, japa and Vedic chanting to steady the mind and open the heart to inner silence.

Yoga Philosophy

योगदर्शन

Patañjali's Yoga Sūtras, the Bhagavad Gītā and Vedānta — studied as living guidance, not history.

Anatomy & Physiology

शरीरविज्ञान

Modern anatomy for safe teaching, joined with the yogic map of nāḍīs, chakras and the subtle body.

Teaching Methodology

अध्यापन विधि

The art of guiding others — sequencing, adjustment, voice, ethics and the responsibilities of a yoga teacher.

What You Will Study

Art of Teaching — illustrated module card

Art of Teaching

Teaching yoga is not about performing difficult postures or memorising a script. It is about seeing the person in front of you and knowing how to guide them safely. In this module, you'll learn how to communicate clearly, observe your students, make thoughtful adjustments, and teach with confidence that comes from understanding — not imitation.

Class Sequence — illustrated module card

Class Sequence

A good class should feel natural, not random. Every posture prepares the body and mind for what comes next. You'll learn how to build classes that flow with purpose, balancing movement, breath, relaxation, and meditation so each session leaves students feeling complete rather than exhausted.

Business of Yoga — illustrated module card

Business of Yoga

If you choose to teach yoga professionally, people are placing their trust in you. This module covers the practical side of becoming a teacher — from creating meaningful classes and workshops to building a sustainable career with honesty, integrity, and respect for the tradition.

Yoga Anatomy — illustrated module card

Yoga Anatomy

You don't need to become a doctor to teach yoga well, but you do need to understand how the body moves. We study anatomy in a practical way, helping you recognise movement patterns, avoid common injuries, and adapt practices for different bodies with confidence.

Posture Mechanics — illustrated module card

Posture Mechanics

Every āsana has a purpose beyond its appearance. Rather than chasing perfect shapes, you'll learn how each posture works, which muscles are involved, how breath supports movement, and how to modify safely according to individual ability.

Yoga Philosophy — illustrated module card

Yoga Philosophy

Yoga begins where the physical practice ends. Through the Yoga Sūtras, Bhagavad Gītā, and other classical texts, we explore the questions that matter most: How does the mind create suffering? What is true freedom? And how can these teachings be lived in everyday life — not only understood in a classroom?
