Best Time of Year for Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh

Namaste. “When should I come?” has a different right answer for every seeker — Rishikesh changes its clothes four times a year, and each season serves a different temperament. Here is the honest month-by-month truth from someone who lives here.
October to November — the golden season
Fresh air after the monsoon, the Ganga full and jade-green, days of 25–30°C and crisp evenings. The town is alive but not overrun. If I could choose any season for a first training, it would be this one. Book early — everyone knows.
December to February — the quiet depth
Cold mornings (5–10°C at dawn — bring that warm layer), brilliant sunny days, and the fewest tourists of the year. The ashram turns inward; meditation deepens in winter air. Our 2 December batch sits deliberately in this season — students who choose winter tend to be the serious ones, and the batch chemistry shows it.
“Winter students tend to be the serious ones — and the batch chemistry shows it.”
March to April — spring balance
Warm days, comfortable nights, rhododendrons in the hills, and the International Yoga Festival energy in March. A lovely middle path — warmer than winter, calmer than autumn’s rush.
May to June — the honest truth about summer
Hot — 35–40°C by afternoon. Practice moves to early morning and evening; midday belongs to rest and the river breeze. It suits heat-tolerant students and those with only summer holidays; others should choose differently. We schedule accordingly, but I will not pretend May is October.
July to September — monsoon’s two faces
Rain transforms the valley into deep green; waterfalls appear on every hillside; the Ganga turns powerful and brown. Fewer travellers, lush beauty, humid air, and occasional travel disruptions on mountain roads. Monsoon suits romantics and repeat visitors; first-timers usually prefer drier months.
Choosing by temperament, not just weather
Seek community and buzz → October–November or March. Seek quiet and depth → December–February. Limited to summer holidays → June works with the right expectations. Love rain and solitude → monsoon will hold you.
Whatever season calls you, see our current batch dates — the next 200 Hour training begins 2 December 2026, in that beautiful quiet season — and read what your day will look like once you arrive.
